Ocean Explorers is a week-long World Schooling experience in Carlsbad, CA for curious learners who love the sea and are drawn to marine biology. Students will explore tide pools, meet sea animals and experts, and dive into hands-on activities like beach hikes, ocean art, and STEM labs. With visits to the Junípero Serra Museum and Fleet Science Center, this program blends the rich history of California with the wonders of nature for a week full of discovery and excitement.

Carroll International Academy is a nonprofit learning collective dedicated to supporting worldschooling, homeschooling, and local families through affordable, enriching, and hands-on educational experiences. We create unique programs that spark curiosity, build community, and inspire lifelong learning—at home and around the world. All programs and activities are meticulously designed by Educational Psychologist and teacher, Dr. Ashley Carroll.
Nope—just the tuition! Your payment covers everything for the week, including all hands-on activities, entrance fees, materials, and special events. No surprise costs—just pure learning and fun!
Families are responsible for drop-off and pick-up each day. All daily activities are planned within walkable distances from our meeting locations, so no additional transportation is needed once the day begins!
Absolutely—we love welcoming siblings into our programs! For full-day sessions, we offer a $100 discount per additional sibling, and for half-day sessions, it’s a $50 discount. The reduced rate applies after one full-paying child. Reach out to us, and we’ll send you the special sibling link!
You’ll receive a full refund for any reason if you cancel at least one week before the program start date. If you need to cancel within one week of the start date, you’ll receive a 50% refund, as we’ve already pre-paid for tickets and learning materials. All refunds are processed within 10 business days of cancellation. To cancel, simply reach out via email, message, or WhatsApp.
After you submit your tuition payment, just include your preferred email address in the notes section at checkout. We’ll email you the registration materials within 48 hours. If you don’t receive them or have any questions, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help!
We offer a limited number of need-based scholarships, with a 50% discount for those selected. Scholarships are dependent on the number of full-paying participants and current donations. To apply, please email us for an application- the link is below. As our community grows, we’re committed to expanding financial support opportunities for more families.
Meals are not provided. Students will need to bring their own food. For half-day participants, please pack a nutritious snack for the morning break. For full-day participants, be sure to pack snacks for both the morning and afternoon breaks, as well as a lunch. Don't forget to include a water bottle labeled with your child’s name to keep them hydrated throughout the day!
If the weather doesn’t permit the planned outdoor activity, class will still go on as scheduled. We’ll notify parents in advance of any changes to the location or activities for the day. Rest assured, we always ensure a safe, engaging, and enriching experience—rain or shine!
Full-day: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Half-day: 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
You’re welcome to drop your child off at the program start time and return at pick-up.
We also love having extra helping hands! If you're interested in volunteering, we’d be thrilled to have you join us. Volunteers support activities, games, and learning throughout the day—helping create a fun, memorable experience for all our campers.
If your travel plans do not permit a full week of attendance, please feel free to reach out so we can discuss available options.

We have a relationship through Fora that allows for hotel perks with specific hotels such as free daily breakfast for two, early/ late checkout and room upgrades (with availability), and hotel credits.
